Trustworthy Vendors

CHAOS Tuesday #58: is titled “Trustworthy Vendors”.  We have two panels debating the issue of Trustworthy Vendors. On our first panel is my co-host Jim Crear. Our three guests are Michael Blanford, Bill Niemi, and Robert Cline.  Our second panel is made up of Marilyn Smith, Dan Horsey and Gene Bounds. A trustworthy vendor is an organization that you can trust to provide hardware, software, and/or professional services.  In this program we look at ways to deal with vendors and how to manage the delivery of their services.

Michael Blanford

Michael Blanford is a seasoned CIO for pharmaceutical and manufacturing organizations. Michael is an Information Technology and Operations leader. Michael has industry experience in manufacturing, service and software businesses in Life Sciences, Instrumentation, Telecommunications and Aerospace ranging from start-up to Fortune 100 businesses.

 

Gene Bounds

Gene Bounds is the president of Bounds Associates. Bounds Associates provides advice, assistance, and training on business management, project/program management, acquisition management, and financial management. Mr. Bounds worked for Booz Allen Hamilton and Robbins-Gioia.

 

Robert Cline

Robert Cline is a senior IT executive in the Telecom and Securities industry. Robert specialties include IT Strategy, enterprise IT systems, information architecture, IT auditing/compliance, information security, disaster recovery, and recovery of failed projects.

 

Dan Horsey

Dan Horsey is a senior information technology executive. His expertise includes project management, software design and development. His skilled in networks, distributed processing, enterprise Architecture and technology strategy. He also has experience in marketing strategy, and business/technology alignment. Dan has held senior positions are the IRS, Bureau of National Affairs and Thomson Corp.

 

Bill Niemi

Bill Niemi is a professional IT advisor. For twenty-four years Mr. Niemi was a Technology Vice President of Fidelity Investments. During his time at Fidelity, Bill oversaw the a variety of system technical implementation for distributed systems, computer graphics, network protocols including decisions on operating systems, databases and middleware. Working at NBC News, Bill was a pioneer in computer graphics in reporting presidential campaigns. Bill is a graduate with a Masters degree from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute.

 

Marilyn Smith

Marilyn Smith is the CIO for George Mason University. Ms. Smith was the former Head of Information Services and Technology at MIT. She also worked at The Hanover Insurance Group and Liberty Mutual Group, and is a graduate of Babson College.
